New coronavirus-fighting measures, as announced by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority on Wednesday, address how international arrivals into Greece will be tested for the virus for the rest of the month of September.

The measures, which detail exactly which travelers will require negative Covid tests to enter Greece, will be in effect from September 18th until the 30th.

As announced on Wednesday, arrivals from Hungary will only be allowed into the country with a negative Covid test that was taken with 72 hours of their arrival.

The same stipulation will be in effect for all passengers arriving from Israel, Bulgaria, Romania, the United Arab Emirates, Malta, Belgium, Spain, Albania, Sweden, and North Macedonia, who will all need proof of a negative Covid test to enter the country.

The Civil Aviation Authority also announced that flights between Greece and Turkey, Barcelona, and Catalonia will remain suspended for now.

Any arrivals from North Macedonia and Albania must go through only the Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport in Athens.

No citizens of countries outside of the EU can enter Greece except for those from the following eleven countries: Australia, Canada, Georgia, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, South Korea, Thailand, Tunisia, Uruguay, and the United Arab Emirates.

Additionally, anyone entering Greece from another country must complete the Passenger Locator Form at least one day before they arrive. The form contains information regarding the person’s country of origin, where they will be staying in Greece, and how to contact them.
